Ellie Goulding pays tribute to Prince at Coachella

Singer Ellie Goulding has paid tribute to the late Prince during her set at the US music festival Coachella. She performed a short but beautiful snippet of 'When Doves Cry' before continuing into her song 'Lights'. You can watch the clip below.

Goulding also remembered Prince on Twitter shortly after he died last week: "RIP Prince. There will never be anyone else like you."

"Was so honoured that he presented me with Best Female Brit two years back. I was speechless in his presence. What a legend."

Prince's remains have been cremated following a private ceremony held by his family, friends and fellow musicians, his representative has confirmed.

The singer died on Thursday (April 21st) in his home in Minneapolis aged just 57. An autopsy has confirmed no evidence of suicide or foul play, although an official cause of death could take weeks.

Fans across the globe, including Madonna and Justin Timberlake, have shared their grief following his death.

Atomised - The Hyena Kill

If you're looking for your new favourite raw rock and roll band, then you've come to the right place. Meet The Hyena Kill, a duo with indisputable talent and edge who are here to blow your mind with their debut album, Atomised.

The Hyena Kill hail from the blessed music scene of Manchester, a place renowned for its

talent and sensations; these guys are no different, blasting out the speakers with energy and demanding to be heard by everyone. The band itself is Steven Dobb rocking vocals and guitar, and Lorna Blundell killing it on drums.  Atomised will be their debut album, and it is something of pure beauty.

Comprising of eight tracks of nothing but full on rock'n'roll noise, this album doesn't fail to impress from start to finish. It focuses on all the important things, including love, loss, rejection, desperation and dreams, making it a relatable listen as well as an impressive one.

Opening the record is 'Crosses', the first single from the album which also has an accompanying video which you can watch below. From the first riffs and beats, I'm hooked. You can really hear the band's influence of Queens Of The Stone Age coming through, as well as their own amazing vibe which starts the album off with a bang.

A personal favourite is 'The Waiting Room', which starts off a lot slower and calmer than the other tracks, giving you a little rest from the headbanging for a while. Blundell's vocals on this track have the same haunting echo as Evanescence's Amy Lee, adding an extra dimension to what is an amazing track.

Closing the album is 'Atomised', a song which deserves all the credit a title track gets. It's powerful, it's hypnotic and it's the longest track on the album, meaning there's even more to love.

Talking for a press release, drummer Lorna Blundell explains the ideas behind Atomised: “The album isn’t a concept album, but it’s got a lot of darkness and pain in there, coming from frustrations and insecurities and anger with past situations and day-to-day life. The bands who influence us most are uncompromising and honest and unafraid to let their emotions show, and hopefully that same attitude shines through in what we do.”
"The DIY scene in this country is really good for bands like us right now. We’ve sold out our last three shows in Manchester, and the scene is going from strength to strength across the country. It feels like a good time to be in a band like ours. Now we just want as many people as possible to hear the album and see how far we can take this."

Atomised will be released on May 16th via Proud Cow RecordsYou can check out the band's previous work, including their last EPs Scrape My Bones and GUSH by going to their Soundcloud page. The Hyena Kill are also on tour this summer, playing at The Deaf Institute in Manchester on May 20th, Camden Town in London on June 4th, and also at Chaos Festival in Guernsey on June 24th, so be sure to see them if you can.
