Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees 2015

Before I start I just want to apologise for the massive gap between my posts- life has been like a crazy rollercoaster recently for me and I've really struggled to find the time and the motivation to even think about ideas for writing. Thank you for being patient with me and hopefully soon things will start to get a little easier and I can do more of what I love.

The inductees for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today after weeks of fans voting for their favourite artists. Next year's inductees will be Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Green Day, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bill Withers, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. It's hardly surprising that these artists will be inducted as they've all had such a huge impact on the music industry, both in the past and present.
One huge achievement is that Green Day have been inducted in their first year of eligibility; inductees become eligible 25 years after their first record was released and also after how much of an influence and contribution they have had to rock and roll. Green Day's first EP- '1000 Hours'- was released in 1989, and being inducted in the first year of eligibility is an accomplishment few artists have achieved. This won't be the first time that the band have had a role in the Hall of Fame: they performed at the 2002 ceremony to induct The Ramones, and they also presented the induction of Guns'N'Roses in 2012.
In my last post I spoke about the possible meanings for the 'Green Day 15' tweet by Billie Joe Armstrong that sent the whole of the Green Day network into a frenzy of excitement. After today's extraordinary news it really does seem like huge things are lined up for Green Day for the next year, and no doubt more great announcements will follow.
As well as the inductees, Ringo Starr will also receive the Award for Music Excellence and will finally receive recognition as a solo artist. He was originally inducted as a member of The Beatles in 1988 and is the last member to receive solo recognition.
This will also be the second time the late Lou Reed will be inducted- he was first inducted as a member of Velvet Underground back in 1996 and will now be honoured posthumously for his solo work and influence on the industry.
The official ceremony will take place on April 18th 2015 at the Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. It is customary for active inductees to perform three songs at the event and it is set to be one of the best ceremonies to date.
