Are Foo Fighters Booked For Glastonbury 2016?

Despite breaking his leg on stage earlier in the month, Dave Grohl is still in high spirits after reports claiming that The Foo Fighters have already been booked for Glastonbury 2016.

A source revealed to The Sun last week that the band have already been put in the headline spot for next year's line up as festival organiser Michael Eavis is 'desperate' for them to play. Other festival organisers have already confirmed that the headliners have been booked.

After they were forced to cancel their set to let Dave Grohl recover, Foo Fighters were replaced by Florence + The Machine. Florence joins fellow headliners The Who and Kayne West, who's slot has caused a great deal of controversy. Dave Grohl spoke out in favour of Kanye performing at the festival following a petition to remove him from the festival was started and has gained over 134,000 signatures.
Grohl said: "I don't know who the dude is that started the petition but I think every one of those votes is only fueling Kanye's f***ing fire and it could be the greatest show of all time."

Whether or not Kayne lives up to the expectations of many of not fitting in the festival will be decided on Saturday when he headlines the Pyramid Stage.

Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones Perform Surprise Secret Show

Green Day frontman and all round rockstar Billie Joe Armstrong performed a rare show with singer Norah Jones last night (June 24th). Their setlist was full of the songs they recorded back in 2013 when they released an album together, Foreverly, as a tribute to the Everly brothers.

The venue, the Bowery Electric in Manhattan was a little smaller than the pair have been used to having both toured the globe with their own bands. With a capacity of 200 and all tickets sold out, the hour-long show was intimate and gave fans and press the chance to see the album performed live for the first time.

Meanwhile, things are looking promising on the Green Day front after the band's producer Rob Cavallo told Kerrang that he had heard five new songs written by Billie Joe Armstrong, and Billie Joe himself revealing that the new music was "heading in the right direction".

Norah Jones and her band are gearing up to open for Neil Young in America throughout July.

Foo Fighters Pull Out Of Glastonbury- Who Will Replace Them?

After Foo Fighters were forced to cancel their set at the Glastonbury Festival, the headline artist will now be Florence + The Machine.

This news was inevitable following the major leg injury suffered by Dave Grohl at the weekend at the band's set in Sweden: the frontman fell off the stage and fractured his leg.
The band have also announced that, regrettably, they will not be able to play any of their forthcoming UK or European shows either.

With the injury happening at the weekend, and the band only announcing last night that they were unable to play at the festival, Glastonbury had to find a replacement as quickly as they could. “Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence,” said event organiser Emily Eavis to Kerrang!, “Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”
Following the news of Florence's set, Foo Fighters tweeted the singer/songwriter "Go Florence!!!!"

Glastonbury will take place on June 24th-28th, and all tickets are sold out.

The following Foo Fighters dates have been cancelled:

Update: Foo Fighters Cancel Two Gigs Following Dave Grohl's Injury

Foo Fighters have unfortunately been forced to cancel their appearance at Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands tomorrow night (June 14th), and their show at St Gallen, Switzerland (June 16th) following Dave Grohl's leg injury at their set in Sweden last night.
The legendary frontman got injured when he missed a ramp and fell into the gap between the stage and the audience at the start of the band's show.
The band have since released a statement confirming that Grohl suffered at least one fracture in his leg.
The statement reads:
"As witnessed by tens of thousands in attendance at Foo Fighters June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium, Dave Grohl took a nasty spill during the second song of the set. With the help of on-site medical staff who patched him up temporarily, Dave was able to rejoin to band to complete the performance. While the full extent of Dave's injuries are still being determined, it was confirmed at a post-show hospital visit that he sustained at least one fracture. As a result Foo Fighters have been forced to cancel their June 14 appearance at the Pinkpop Festival as well as their June 16 show at AFG Arena in St Gallen, Switzerland."
Foo Fighters are set to play in London, Ireland and Edinburgh this month followed by their Glastonbury headlines performance- after the cancellations of the Europe shows, the band may have to cancel more dates depending on how bad Grohl's injury is- more updates will be posted as and when they happen.

The Show Must Go On: Dave Grohl Breaks Leg On Stage and Carries On Playing

Dave Grohl showed the world just how legendary he is last night after he fell off stage during a Foo Fighters gig, broke his leg, and carried on with the show.
The band were only two songs into their headline performance at Gothernburg's Ullevi Stadium, Sweden, when Grohl slipped off the stage during hit 'Monkey Wrench'. BBC News reported that the frontman had missed the ramp leading to the runway and fell into the gap between the stage and the audience.
The rest of the band played cover versions while Grohl was receiving medical attention. Whilst on the ground, he reassured fans that the show would go on:
"I think I just broke my leg. I'm going to go to hospital. I'm going to fix my leg. And then I'm going to come back. You have my promise right now that the Foo Fighters- we're going to come back and finish the show."
Grohl continued the rest of the show sitting in a chair with his leg bandaged, and he confirmed on Twitter that a bone was broken.

The band have just started their UK and Ireland tour, and are set to play at London's Wembley Stadium (June 19th, 20th), and Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium (June 23rd)- after last night's incident the shows will presumably still go ahead, but watch out for more updates as and when news arrives.
